Wonton Filling

Method

Prepare Wonton Filling

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine ground pork, chopped shrimp, green onions, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well until thoroughly combined.

  2. 2

    Fill Wontons

Take a wonton wrapper and place a small spoonful of the filling in the center. Moisten the edges with water, fold the wrapper in half to form a triangle, and press the edges tightly to seal. Optionally, fold the two corners of the triangle towards the center to create a more traditional wonton shape. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.

Prepare Soup Base

  1. 3

    Simmer Broth

In a large pot, combine chicken broth, water, minced garlic, and sliced ginger. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat and let simmer for 10 minutes to infuse the flavors.

  2. 4

    Add Soy Sauce

Stir in soy sauce, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Let the broth continue to simmer while you cook the wontons.

Cook Wontons

  1. 5

    Boil Wontons

In a separate pot, bring water to a boil. Gently drop in the prepared wontons, being careful not to overcrowd. Cook for about 4-5 minutes or until they float to the surface and are cooked through.

  2. 6

    Serve

Using a slotted spoon, remove the wontons and place them in serving bowls. Ladle the hot soup base over the wontons, garnish with chopped green onions and fresh cilantro. Serve hot.
