Pasta Dough

Method

Pasta Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the eggs and olive oil. Gradually mix the flour into the eggs using a fork until a dough forms.

  2. 2

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Wrap in plastic wrap and let rest for 30 minutes.

Pasta Sauce Preparation

  1. 3

    Cook the Sauce

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Add the crushed tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15-20 minutes.

  2. 4

    Finish the Sauce

Stir in the fresh basil leaves and grated Parmesan cheese. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed. Keep warm.

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 5

    Roll and Cut the Pasta

Roll out the rested dough using a pasta machine or rolling pin to your desired thickness. Cut into your preferred shape (like fettuccine or tagliatelle).

  2. 6

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the pasta for 2-4 minutes until al dente. Drain and toss with the sauce.
