Onion Rings Ingredients
Method
Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Onions
Peel the onions and slice them into rings that are about 1/4 inch thick. Separate the rings and set them aside.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Mix well. Gradually add the cold water while whisking until the batter is smooth and slightly thick.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).
- 4
Coat the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring into the batter, making sure it is fully coated. Allow any excess batter to drip off.
- 5
Fry the Onion Rings
Carefully place the coated onion rings into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Use a slotted spoon to remove the onion rings from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot.
