Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.

  3. 3

    Dry the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the dried potato strips to the hot oil in small batches. Fry them for about 5-7 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. While they are still hot, sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the fries hot, optionally with your favorite dipping sauces.
