Main Ingredients
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Cucumber
Grate the cucumber using a box grater or food processor. If using a box grater, choose the large holes for a coarser texture. After grating, place the cucumber in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out excess moisture to prevent the tzatziki from becoming watery.
- 2
Mince the Garlic
Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves. You can use a knife or a garlic press for this step.
- 3
Chop the Dill
Finely chop the fresh dill leaves, discarding any thick stems.
- 4
Combine Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, chopped dill, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine all the ingredients thoroughly.
Serving
- 5
Chill the Tzatziki
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate the tzatziki for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- 6
Serve
Before serving, give the tzatziki a good stir. Serve it chilled as a dip with pita bread, fresh vegetables, or as a sauce for grilled meats and gyros.
