Dumpling Dough

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add warm water and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms. Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Filling

In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the onions in a little olive oil until translucent. Add the ground meat, pine nuts, cinnamon, allspice, salt, and pepper. Cook until the meat is browned. Remove from heat and let cool.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Dumplings

Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut circles (about 3 inches in diameter). Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each circle. Fold and seal the edges, making sure they are tightly closed.

  4. 4

    Cook the Dumplings

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Drop in the dumplings and cook for about 5-7 minutes or until they float. Remove and drain.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Yogurt Sauce

In a bowl, mix the yogurt, minced garlic, salt, and chopped mint until well combined.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the dumplings hot topped with yogurt sauce.
