Bread Ingredients
Method
Bread Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 5
Shape the Bread
Punch down the dough and divide it into equal portions (about 8 pieces). Shape each piece into a round ball.
- 6
Second Rise
Place the shaped dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
- 7
Prepare for Baking
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Brush the tops of the dough balls with water and sprinkle generously with sesame seeds.
- 8
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
- 9
Cooling
Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.
