Falafel Ingredients

Method

Falafel Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Soak Chickpeas

In a large bowl, soak the dried chickpeas in water overnight. Ensure they are fully submerged.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

Drain the soaked chickpeas and add them to a food processor along with parsley, cilantro, onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Pulse until the mixture is coarse but well combined.

  3. 3

    Form Balls

Transfer the mixture to a bowl and stir in the flour. Use your hands to form small balls (about the size of a golf ball).

  4. 4

    Freeze Falafel

Place the formed falafel balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze until solid. Once frozen, transfer to a freezer bag for storage.

  5. 5

    Fry Falafel

Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium heat. Fry the falafel balls in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
