Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil the Shrimp

In a large pot, combine 8 cups of water, the sliced lemon, Old Bay seasoning, and salt. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil.

  2. 2

    Cook the Shrimp

Once the water is boiling, add the large shrimp. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.

  3. 3

    Ice Bath

Remove the shrimp from the boiling water and immediately transfer them to a bowl filled with ice water to stop the cooking process. Let them sit for about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Drain and Chill

Drain the shrimp from the ice water and place them on a paper towel to remove excess moisture. Refrigerate them until ready to serve.

Cocktail Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Mix the Sauce

In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of prepared horseradish, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, and 1 teaspoon of hot sauce. Stir until well combined.

  2. 6

    Season to Taste

Taste the cocktail sauce and add salt as necessary to suit your preference. Adjust the other ingredients if desired.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate the Shrimp

Arrange the chilled shrimp on a serving platter.

  2. 8

    Serve with Sauce

Serve the shrimp alongside the house-made cocktail sauce for dipping.
