Method

Preparing the Shrimp

  1. 1

    Boil the Shrimp

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 tsp of salt and the halved lemon to the water.

  2. 2

    Cook the Shrimp

Once the water is boiling, add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and opaque.

  3. 3

    Chill the Shrimp

Remove the shrimp from the pot and place them in an ice bath (a bowl of ice water) to stop the cooking process. Let them cool for about 5 minutes.

Making the Cocktail Sauce

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, mix together 1 cup of ketchup, 2 tbs of horseradish, 1 tbs of Worcestershire sauce, 1 tbs of lemon juice, and 1 tsp of hot sauce (if using).

  2. 5

    Adjust Flavor

Taste the cocktail sauce and adjust the seasoning according to your preference, adding more horseradish or hot sauce if desired.

Serving

  1. 6

    Plate the Shrimp

Arrange the chilled shrimp on a platter or individual serving plates.

  2. 7

    Serve with Sauce and Citrus

Serve with the cocktail sauce on the side and garnish with slices of lime and lemon for an extra citrus touch.
