Prepare Plantains

Peel the green plantains using a sharp knife. Cut them into 1-inch thick slices.

Fry Plantain Slices
In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Once hot, fry the plantain slices for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they are golden and soft. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Form Cups
Using a flat surface or a tostonera (plantain press), flatten each fried plantain slice to form a disc. Then, refry the discs in the hot oil for another 1-2 minutes until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels, sprinkling with salt immediately.
