1. Heat the Milk and Cream

In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of whole milk and 1 cup of heavy cream. Heat over medium heat until the mixture is hot but not boiling, stirring occasionally.

In a separate bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder and 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar together. This will help to prevent clumping.

3. Combine Ingredients

Once the milk and cream mixture is hot, whisk in the cocoa and sugar mixture along with 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Continue to whisk until everything is fully combined and smooth.

4. Heat Thoroughly

Keep heating the mixture on low for another 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly. Do not let it boil.
