Mixing the Cocktail

Prepare the Mixing Glass
Start by chilling a mixing glass by filling it with ice and letting it sit while you prepare the other ingredients.

Measure the Ingredients
In a separate measuring jigger, pour 2 oz of Bacardi 8 rum, 1 oz of blanc vermouth, and 0.5 oz of cherry black juice.

Add Bitters
Add 2 dashes of orange bitters to the mixture in the jigger.

Stir the Mixture
Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds to chill and combine the ingredients thoroughly.

Strain into Glass
Strain the cocktail mixture into a chilled coupe or cocktail glass.
Garnishing

Prepare the Garnish
Using a vegetable peeler or knife, cut a slice of orange peel, ensuring to capture some of the essential oils.

Add Garnish to Cocktail
Twist the orange peel over the cocktail to release the oils, then drop it into the glass. Add a maraschino cherry on top for decoration.
