Method

Burger Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined; do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions (each about 1/2 lb). Shape each portion into a round patty, approximately 1 inch thick. Make a small indent in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Heat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Once hot, place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium doneness (adjust time for desired doneness).

Burger Assembly

  1. 5

    Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half. Optionally, toast them on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Burger

Once the patties are cooked to your liking, place each patty on the bottom half of the bun. Top with shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, red onion, and pickles. Place the top half of the bun over the toppings.
