Macaroni and Cheese

Smiley Fries

Method

Macaroni and Cheese

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Roux

In the same pot, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the all-purpose flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown, stirring constantly.

  3. 3

    Add Milk

Gradually whisk in the milk, continuing to stir to prevent lumps. Cook the mixture until it thickens, about 3-5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add Cheese and Seasonings

Remove the pot from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Add salt, black pepper, and paprika to taste.

  5. 5

    Combine with Pasta

Fold the cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce until completely coated.

  6. 6

    Bake (optional)

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the macaroni and cheese to a baking dish, sprinkle with bread crumbs, and bake for 20 minutes until golden brown on top.

Smiley Fries

  1. 7

    Prepare the Fries

Preheat the oven according to the package instructions for the smiley fries, usually around 425°F (220°C).

  2. 8

    Bake the Fries

Spread the frozen smiley fries on a baking sheet in a single layer. Drizzle with vegetable oil and sprinkle with salt. Bake according to package directions, usually about 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through for even crispiness.
