Burger Patty Preparation

Prepare the Meat
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined.

Form the Patties
Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and form each into a quarter pound burger patty, about 3/4 inch thick.

Add Cheese
In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of your choice of cheese on each patty and cover to melt.

Prepare the Smiley Fries
While the burgers are cooking, heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large skillet over medium heat.

Fry the Fries
Add the frozen smiley fries to the hot oil and fry according to package instructions until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes.

Drain and Serve
Remove the fries from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Season with salt if desired.
