Method
Fried Pickles
- 1
Prepare the Pickles
Drain dill pickle slices from the jar and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 2
Make the Breading
In a medium bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 3
Dunk in Buttermilk
Place the dried pickle slices into a separate bowl with buttermilk, allowing them to soak for a few minutes.
- 4
Coat the Pickles
Remove the pickles from the buttermilk and let the excess drip off. Dredge each pickle slice in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
- 5
- 6
Fry the Pickles
Carefully add the coated pickle slices to the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- 7
Drain and Serve
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried pickles and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot.
