Method
Chicken Preparation
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a mixing bowl, combine the buttermilk and hot sauce. Add the chicken breasts, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Coat the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess buttermilk to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, pressing gently to ensure a good coating.
- 4
Fry the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the coated chicken breasts. Fry for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
Spicy Mayo
- 5
Mix the Ingredients
In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, hot sauce, and lime juice. Mix well until smooth and set aside.
Sandwich Assembly
- 6
Assemble the Sandwich
On the bottom half of each burger bun, spread a generous amount of spicy mayo. Place a piece of fried chicken on each bun, top with lettuce and sliced tomatoes, and finish with the top half of the bun.
- 7
Serve
Serve the fried chicken sandwiches immediately, with extra spicy mayo on the side if desired.
