Dough
Garlic Butter
Method
Preparing the Dough
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix the Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough begins to form.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
Shaping and Baking
- 4
Shape the Knots
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope, about 10 inches long, and tie it into a knot.
- 5
Second Rise
Place the knots on a greased baking sheet, cover with a kitchen towel, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- 6
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 7
Bake the Knots
Bake the knots for about 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
Preparing Garlic Butter
- 8
Melt the Butter
In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
- 9
Finish the Garlic Butter
Remove from heat and stir in fresh parsley, salt, and black pepper to taste.
