Cooking Pasta

Boil Water
Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a rolling boil over high heat.

Add Salt
Once the water is boiling, add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water to enhance the flavor of the pasta.

Cook Pasta
Add 8 cups of pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually around 8-10 minutes.

Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside, reserving a small cup of pasta water.
Cooking Vegetables

Heat Olive Oil
In a large skillet, heat 4 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

Add Vegetables
Add the bell peppers, zucchini, cherry tomatoes, carrots, and asparagus to the skillet. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.

Season Vegetables
Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper to taste, mixing well to combine.
Combining and Serving

Add Pasta to Vegetables
Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the sautéed vegetables and toss everything together.

Add Reserved Pasta Water
If the mixture seems dry, add a little reserved pasta water to help bring everything together.

Finish with Cheese
Remove from heat and sprinkle 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese over the top, tossing to combine until the cheese is melted and everything is coated.

Serve hot, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese and fresh herbs if desired.
