Brussels Sprout Gratin Ingredients

Method

Brussels Sprout Gratin Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Brussels Sprouts

Trim the ends of the Brussels sprouts and remove any yellow or damaged leaves. Cut each sprout in half lengthwise.

  2. 2

    Blanch the Brussels Sprouts

Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the halved Brussels sprouts and blanch for about 5 minutes, or until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and transfer to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Once cooled, drain again and set aside.

  3. 3

    Make the Cream Mixture

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Stir in grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the mixture is slightly thickened.

  4. 4

    Combine and Assemble

In a large mixing bowl, combine the blanched Brussels sprouts with the cream mixture. Stir until all sprouts are evenly coated. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.

  5. 5

    Add Breadcrumb Topping

Sprinkle the breadcrumbs evenly over the top of the Brussels sprout mixture.

  6. 6

    Bake the Gratin

Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F). Bake the gratin for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbling.

  7. 7

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your Brussels Sprout Gratin!
