For the Tiramisu

Method

Preparing the Tiramisu

  1. 1

    Prepare the Coffee

Brew a strong cup of coffee and let it cool to room temperature. If desired, stir in the coffee liqueur for added flavor.

  2. 2

    Mix the Mascarpone Filling

In a large mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and heavy cream. Use an electric mixer to whisk the mixture until smooth and creamy.

  3. 3

    Dip the Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Lay them in a single layer at the bottom of a 9x13 inch dish.

  4. 4

    Layer the Mixture

Spread half of the mascarpone mixture evenly over the layer of ladyfingers. Use a spatula for an even spread.

  5. 5

    Repeat the Layers

Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers on top of the mascarpone layer, followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture. Smooth out the top with a spatula.

  6. 6

    Chill the Tiramisu

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow flavors to meld and the dessert to set.

  7. 7

    Serve and Garnish

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings. Cut into squares and serve chilled.
