Method
Cooking the Pasta

Boil Water
Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil.

Cook Fettuccine
Add the fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

Drain Pasta
Once cooked, reserve 1 cup of the pasta water and then drain the pasta.
Making the Alfredo Sauce

Melt Butter
In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.

Add Cream
Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer while stirring frequently for about 2-3 minutes.

Add Cheese
Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper. Continue to stir until the cheese is completely melted and the sauce is smooth.

Adjust Consistency
If the sauce is too thick, gradually add some reserved pasta water until the desired consistency is achieved.
