Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough

In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Rise Dough

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine diced tomatoes, minced garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 6

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat.

  2. 7

    Roll Out Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it onto a floured surface. Roll out to your desired thickness.

  3. 8

    Add Sauce

Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a piece of parchment paper. Spread a layer of the prepared sauce over the surface.

  4. 9

    Add Toppings

Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce. Add sliced pepperoni, bell peppers, and red onion. Top with fresh basil leaves.

  5. 10

    Bake Pizza

Carefully transfer the pizza (with parchment) onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.

  6. 11

    Slice and Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve hot.
