Pasta

Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring water to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, add 1 tablespoon of salt.

  2. 2

    Cook Pasta

Add fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander, reserving about 1 cup of pasta water for later use.

Making Alfredo Sauce

  1. 4

    Melt Butter

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter until it starts to bubble.

  2. 5

    Add Garlic

Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  3. 6

    Incorporate Cream

Slowly pour in 1 cup of heavy cream, stirring continuously. Allow the mixture to simmer for 2-3 minutes.

  4. 7

    Add Cheese and Seasoning

Stir in 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season with 1 teaspoon of black pepper and 1 teaspoon of nutmeg.

Combining Pasta and Sauce

  1. 8

    Mix Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained pasta to the Alfredo sauce in the skillet. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed to achieve desired consistency.

  2. 9

    Add Protein (if using)

If using protein, gently fold in the sliced grilled chicken, cooked shrimp, or steamed broccoli until evenly distributed.

Serving

  1. 10

    Plate and Serve

Serve the Alfredo pasta hot with additional grated Parmesan cheese and black pepper on top if desired.
