Filet Mignon

Mashed Potatoes

Method

Preparing the Filet Mignon

  1. 1

    Season the Filet

Sprinkle the filet mignon generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.

  2. 2

    Sear the Filet

In a skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil. Once hot, place the filet in the skillet and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare doneness. Adjust cooking time for desired doneness.

  3. 3

    Rest the Filet

Remove the filet from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Making the Herb Butter

  1. 4

    Prepare the Herb Butter

In a bowl, mix the unsalted butter with chopped parsley, thyme, and minced garlic until well combined. Set aside.

  2. 5

    Top the Filet

After the filet has rested, top it with a generous dollop of the herb butter and allow it to melt over the steak.

Making the Mashed Potatoes

  1. 6

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and dice the russet potatoes into even cubes. Place them in a pot, cover with water, add a pinch of salt, and bring to a boil. Cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 7

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, heavy cream, salt, and black pepper. Mash until creamy and smooth.
