Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

Slice the onion into thin rings. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until they are caramelized, about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Parmesan Sauce

In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, grated Parmesan cheese, and garlic powder. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Divide the ground beef into two equal portions and shape them into balls. Season with salt and black pepper. In the same skillet used for the onions, increase the heat to high. Place the beef balls in the skillet and smash them down with a spatula to create thin patties. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side.

  4. 4

    Add the Cheese

In the last minute of cooking the patties, place a slice of provolone and a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty. Cover the skillet to allow the cheese to melt.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burger

Toast the burger buns lightly. On the bottom half of the bun, place a cheeseburger patty, topped with caramelized onions. Drizzle the Parmesan sauce over the top and cover with the other half of the bun.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the New French Onion Smashed Burger with french fries or tater tots on the side.
