Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Baked Potato

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Scrub the potato under running water, then pierce it several times with a fork. Rub the skin with a little olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Place the potato directly on the oven rack and bake for about 45-60 minutes, or until tender.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the New York Strip Steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Preheat your grill or skillet over high heat. Rub the steak with olive oil, then season both sides generously with kosher salt and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Grill the Steak

Place the steak on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting the time for your desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness: 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare, 140°F (60°C) for medium.

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your preference, remove the steak from the heat and let it rest on a cutting board for about 5 minutes before slicing.

  5. 5

    Serve

While the steak rests, slice the baked potato open and add butter, sour cream, and chopped chives. Serve the steak alongside the baked potato for a delicious meal.
