Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Pickle the Red Onion

Thinly slice the red onion and place it in a bowl. Pour the rice vinegar over the onion and let it sit for at least 30 minutes to pickle.

  2. 2

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove from the skillet, crumble it, and set aside. Reserve some bacon fat in the skillet.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Brussels Sprouts

Trim the ends of the Brussels sprouts and cut them in half. In the same skillet with bacon fat, add olive oil and heat over medium-high. Add the Brussels sprouts cut side down and sauté until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add Flavorings

Add salt, pepper, and the juice of the orange to the skillet. Stir to combine and cook for another 5 minutes until Brussels sprouts are tender but still crisp.

  5. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Remove the skillet from heat, and then mix in the crumbled bacon and Parmesan cheese until evenly distributed.

  6. 6

    Serve

Plate the Brussels sprouts, top with pickled red onions and granola for added crunch. Serve warm.
