Kalua Pork

Furikake Rice

Method

Kalua Pork

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Rub the pork shoulder with Himalayan salt and liquid smoke. Wrap the pork in banana leaves (if using) and place in a roasting pan. Cover tightly with foil.

  2. 2

    Roast the Pork

Roast in the oven for 6-8 hours until tender. Shred the pork with a fork and set aside.

Jumbo Garlic Shrimp

  1. 3

    Cook the Shrimp

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant. Add the shrimp and cook until they turn pink, about 2-3 minutes per side. Stir in butter, lemon juice, red pepper flakes, and salt to taste.

Furikake Rice

  1. 4

    Cook the Rice

Rinse the short grain rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine rice and water in a rice cooker or pot. Cook according to rice cooker instructions or bring to a boil, then cover and reduce heat to low for 18-20 minutes. Once cooked, fluff with a fork and stir in furikake seasoning.

Choy Sum Namul

  1. 5

    Prepare the Choy Sum

Bring a pot of water to a boil. Blanch the choy sum for 1-2 minutes until tender but still bright green. Drain and rinse under cold water. In a bowl, combine sesame oil, soy sauce, and sesame seeds. Add choy sum and toss to coat.
