Method

Preparation Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Sushi Rice

Cook the sushi rice according to package instructions. Once done, let it cool slightly and season with a mixture of rice vinegar, sugar, and salt.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Tuna

In a bowl, mix the fresh tuna steak with soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over high heat and sear the tuna for about 1-2 minutes on each side until charred. Remove from heat and let it rest, then chop into small pieces.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Vegetables

Slice the avocado and cucumber into thin strips.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Roll

Place a nori sheet on a bamboo sushi mat. Wet your hands and spread an even layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving about an inch at the top. Lay down a few strips of avocado, cucumber, and the charred tuna in the center. Drizzle garlic chili sauce over the filling.

  5. 5

    Roll the Sushi

Using the bamboo mat, carefully roll the sushi away from you, pressing gently but firmly to ensure it holds together. Moisten the edge of the nori to seal the roll.

  6. 6

    Slice and Serve

Using a sharp knife, slice the roll into bite-sized pieces. Serve with extra garlic chili sauce and soy sauce on the side.
