Method

Cake Directions

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until combined. Slowly add the boiling water and mix until smooth.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cake

Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Raspberry Sauce Directions

  1. 7

    Prepare the Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the fresh raspberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Stir gently until the raspberries break down and the sugar dissolves.

  2. 8

    Cook the Sauce

Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes until it thickens slightly. Remove from heat and let cool.

  3. 9

    Strain the Sauce (optional)

For a smoother sauce, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove the seeds.
