Shishito Peppers

Togarashi Chickpeas

Method

Preparation of Shishito Peppers

  1. 1

    Blister the Peppers

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shishito peppers and cook, turning occasionally, until they are blistered and slightly charred, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 2

    Season the Peppers

Remove from heat and toss the blistered shishito peppers with furikake seasoning, lemon zest, and salt to taste.

Preparation of Togarashi Chickpeas

  1. 3

    Prepare the Chickpeas

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Rinse and drain the canned chickpeas, then pat them dry with a paper towel.

  2. 4

    Season and Roast

In a bowl, toss the chickpeas with olive oil, togarashi spice blend, and salt. Spread them on a baking sheet in a single layer and roast in the oven for 20-25 minutes, or until crispy.

Serving the Dish

  1. 5

    Combine and Serve

Serve the blistered shishito peppers on a platter with the crispy togarashi chickpeas on the side. Drizzle with additional lemon oil if desired.
