Method

Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Mash the Beans

In a large mixing bowl, mash the cooked black beans using a fork or a potato masher until mostly smooth with some chunks remaining for texture.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

Add the cooked quinoa, rolled oats, chopped onion, minced garlic, ground cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper to the mashed beans. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.

  3. 3

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 1 inch thick.

  4. 4

    Cook the Patties

Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and heated through.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Prepare the Buns

Toast the vegan burger buns lightly on a skillet or grill.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Burger

Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun. Then, add a cooked patty, followed by a slice of tomato and avocado. Top with the other half of the bun.

  3. 7

    Serve

Serve the vegan burgers immediately with your favorite condiments or sides.
