Method
Preparation
- 1
- 2
Soak the Potatoes
Place the cut fries in a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.
Cooking
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can use a thermometer to check the temperature.
- 4
Dry the Potatoes
After soaking, drain the water and pat the potatoes dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. This step is crucial to avoid splattering when frying.
- 5
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add a batch of the dried potato strips to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Drain and Season
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. While they are still hot, sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder to taste.
- 7
Repeat
Continue frying the remaining batches of potatoes, ensuring the oil returns to temperature between batches.
Serving
- 8
Serve Hot
Once all fries are cooked and seasoned, serve them hot as a side dish or snack. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauces!
