Method
Chicken Preparation
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a bowl, combine buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken breasts and ensure they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- 2
Prepare the Breading
In another bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Bread the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk marinade and let the excess drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring they are completely coated. Shake off any excess flour.
- 4
Fry the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded chicken breasts. Fry for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- 5
Drain the Chicken
Once cooked, remove the chicken from the skillet and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Sandwich Assembly
- 6
Toast the Buns
While the chicken is draining, toast the burger buns in the skillet or in a toaster until golden brown.
- 7
Assemble the Sandwich
Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place a fried chicken breast on top, followed by a lettuce leaf. Top with the other half of the bun.
- 8
Serve
Serve the chicken sandwiches immediately while hot.
