Method

Bread Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Mix until a dough forms. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1-2 hours.

  5. 5

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Shape it into a loaf or desired shape.

  6. 6

    Second Rise

Place the shaped dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover again and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes.

  7. 7

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  8. 8

    Bake

Bake the bread in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

  9. 9

    Cool

Remove from the oven and let the bread cool on a wire rack.

Cheese and Herb Oil Preparation

  1. 10

    Combine Ingredients

In a small saucepan, combine olive oil, chopped rosemary, chopped thyme, minced garlic, and salt.

  2. 11

    Infuse Oil

Heat over low heat for about 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld without boiling.

  3. 12

    Add Cheese

Remove from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until well combined.

  4. 13

    Serve

Drizzle the cheese and herb oil over slices of the warm bread or serve it on the side for dipping.
