Method

Cobbler Base Preparation

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

3

Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, melt the butter and then mix in the milk until combined.

4

Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

Banana Filling Preparation

5

Prepare Bananas

Peel and slice the ripe bananas into thick rounds.

6

Cook Banana Filling

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter for the banana filling. Add the sliced bananas, brown sugar, dark rum, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring gently until bananas soften and the sauce thickens.

Assembly and Baking

7

Combine Cobbler and Filling

In a greased 9x9 inch baking dish, pour the cobbler batter evenly over the bottom. Spoon the banana filling over the batter, spreading it out evenly.

8

Bake the Cobbler

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the cobbler is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Serving

9

Serve with Ice Cream

Allow the cobbler to cool slightly before serving. Scoop generous portions into bowls and top with vanilla ice cream.
