Method
Base Preparation
- 1
Combine Base Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- 2
Chill the Base
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
Flavoring the Ice Cream
- 3
Flavor the Ice Cream Base
Once the base is chilled, divide it into four portions in separate bowls. Add the desired flavoring to each portion: espresso powder to one, cocoa powder to another, pureed strawberries to the third, and salted caramel sauce to the last. Mix well until fully incorporated.
- 4
Prepare Raspberry Sorbet
For the raspberry sorbet, blend fresh raspberries until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove seeds. Combine with 1/2 cup of the ice cream base and mix well.
Churning and Freezing
- 5
Churn the Ice Cream
Pour each flavored mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
- 6
Transfer to Containers
Transfer the churned ice cream into pint-sized containers. For the raspberry sorbet, do the same.
- 7
Freeze
Cover containers with lids and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
