Final Preparation

Method

Chai Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Brew the Chai

In a saucepan, combine the black tea leaves, water, cinnamon stick, whole cloves, cardamom pods, sliced ginger, vanilla extract, and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Simmer

Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

  3. 3

    Strain

Remove from heat, strain the chai through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, discarding the solids. Let it cool to room temperature.

Lavender Syrup Preparation

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a small saucepan, combine the dried culinary lavender, water, and sugar.

  2. 5

    Simmer the Syrup

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes.

  3. 6

    Strain and Cool

Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve, discarding the lavender. Allow the syrup to cool completely.

Final Assembly

  1. 7

    Combine Ingredients

In a large glass, combine the cooled chai base, lavender syrup, and milk. Stir well to combine.

  2. 8

    Serve Over Ice

Fill a serving glass with ice and pour the chai-lavender mixture over the ice. Stir well and garnish with a sprig of lavender if desired.
