Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bread

Cut the thick slices of white bread in half to create 6 halves. Set aside.

Egg Mixture

  1. 2

    Whisk the Egg Mixture

In a mixing bowl, crack the 2 eggs and whisk them until well combined. Add 1 cup of milk, 1 tsp of vanilla extract, 1 tsp of ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and fully blended.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet or griddle, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat until it is bubbly and starts to brown slightly.

  2. 4

    Dip the Bread

Take each half of the bread and dip it into the egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides evenly. Allow the excess mixture to drip off.

  3. 5

    Cook the French Toast

Place the dipped bread halves onto the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Make sure not to overcrowd the skillet; cook in batches if necessary.

Serving

  1. 6

    Plate and Garnish

Once cooked, place the French toast halves on a serving plate. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with maple syrup on the side.
