Espresso
Method
Preparing the Espresso
- 1
Grind the Coffee Beans
Using a coffee grinder, grind 18 grams of espresso coffee beans to a fine consistency. The grind should be finer than regular coffee but not as fine as powdered sugar.
- 2
Prepare the Espresso Machine
Ensure your espresso machine is clean and ready for use. Fill the water reservoir with fresh, filtered water (approximately 60 ml) and turn on the machine to let it heat up.
- 3
Tamp the Coffee
Place the ground coffee in the portafilter and use a tamper to press down firmly and evenly, ensuring a level surface. Aim for approximately 30 pounds of pressure when tamping.
- 4
Brew the Espresso
Lock the portafilter into the espresso machine and start the brewing process. Allow the espresso to extract for about 25 to 30 seconds. You should see a rich, dark liquid flowing out.
