Method

Cinnamon Butter Preparation

  1. 1

    Make Cinnamon Butter

In a medium bowl, mix together the softened unsalted butter, ground cinnamon, and brown sugar until well combined. Set aside.

French Toast Preparation

  1. 2

    Prepare French Toast Mixture

In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.

  2. 3

    Stuff the Bread

Spread the cinnamon butter mixture generously between the two slices of thick white bread, ensuring they are well filled.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Cook the French Toast

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease it. Dip the stuffed bread in the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side. Place the soaked bread on the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Streusel Topping Preparation

  1. 5

    Make the Streusel

In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon. Cut in the cold unsalted butter using a fork or pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  2. 6

    Add Streusel to French Toast

Sprinkle the streusel mixture over the French toast while it’s still in the skillet during the last minute of cooking.

Cream Cheese Icing Preparation

  1. 7

    Prepare Cream Cheese Icing

In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and milk, mixing until well combined. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Serving

  1. 8

    Plate and Garnish

Once the French toast is cooked and topped with streusel, drizzle the cream cheese icing over the top and sprinkle with powdered sugar to taste. Serve warm.
