Biscuits and Gravy

Method

Biscuits and Gravy

  1. 1

    Make the Biscuits

Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually stir in the milk until a soft dough forms.

  2. 2

    Shape and Bake the Biscuits

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently for about 30 seconds. Roll out to about 1-inch thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Gravy

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned. Sprinkle flour over the sausage and stir to combine. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until thickened. Season with black pepper and salt to taste.

Eggs

  1. 4

    Cook the Eggs

In a non-stick skillet, heat butter or oil over medium heat. Crack the eggs into the skillet and cook to your desired doneness (sunny-side up, scrambled, etc.). Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Breakfast Potatoes

  1. 5

    Prepare the Potatoes

In a large bowl, toss the diced potatoes with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.

  2. 6

    Cook the Potatoes

Spread the potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet. Roast in the preheated oven (same as the biscuits) for 25-30 minutes, or until golden and crispy, flipping halfway through.
