Method

Cooking Pasta

1

Boil Water

In a large pot, bring about 4 liters of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt.

2

Cook Spaghetti

Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente.

3

Drain Pasta

Once cooked, reserve a cup of pasta water and drain the spaghetti in a colander. Set aside.

Making Bolognese Sauce

4

Sauté Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until softened.

5

Add Garlic

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

6

Cook Ground Beef

Add the ground beef to the skillet and break it up with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

7

Add Tomatoes

Stir in the crushed canned tomatoes and tomato paste, mixing well.

8

Season the Sauce

Add dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine, then let the sauce simmer on low heat for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

9

Combine with Spaghetti

Once the sauce has thickened, add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet. Toss to coat the pasta in the sauce, adding reserved pasta water if needed for consistency.

10

Serve

Serve the spaghetti hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil as a garnish.
