Method
Cooking Pasta
Boil Water
In a large pot, bring 4-5 liters of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water.
Cook Spaghetti
Once the water is boiling, add 400 grams of spaghetti. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.
Preparing Meat Sauce
Heat Olive Oil
In a large skillet or saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.
Sauté Vegetables
Add 1 finely chopped onion, 3 minced garlic cloves, 1 grated carrot, and 1 chopped celery stalk to the skillet. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
Cook Ground Beef
Add 500 grams of ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
Add Tomatoes and Seasoning
Stir in 400 grams of crushed canned tomatoes, 2 tablespoons of tomato paste, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Mix well.
Simmer Sauce
Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
Serve
Toss the cooked spaghetti in the sauce until well coated. Serve hot and garnish with 50 grams of grated Parmesan cheese.
