Main Ingredients

Niçoise Dressing

Method

Cooking the Tuna

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ahi Tuna

Coat the ahi tuna steaks with sesame seeds on all sides. Season with salt and pepper.

  2. 2

    Sear the Tuna

Heat a skillet over high heat and add a little olive oil. Sear the tuna for 1-2 minutes on each side for rare doneness. Remove and let rest.

Preparing the Vegetables and Eggs

  1. 3

    Boil the Potatoes

Boil the potatoes until tender, about 15-20 minutes, then drain and let cool. Cut into quarters.

  2. 4

    Blanch the Asparagus

In the same pot, blanch the asparagus for 2-3 minutes until bright green, then transfer to ice water.

  3. 5

    Cook the Eggs

In a small pot, bring water to a boil and gently add the eggs. Boil for 6 minutes, then transfer to cold water to stop cooking. Peel and set aside.

Preparing the Salad and Dressing

  1. 6

    Make the Niçoise Dressing

In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, red wine vinegar, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.

  2. 7

    Assemble the Salad

On a plate, arrange mixed greens, sliced watermelon radish, halved cherry tomatoes, sliced olives, quartered potatoes, blanched asparagus, and sliced eggs. Top with sliced seared tuna and drizzle with the dressing.
