Method
Preparing the Tartar Sauce

Make the Tartar Sauce
In a bowl, mix together mayonnaise, dill pickles, capers, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste. Refrigerate until serving.
Making Coleslaw

Prepare the Coleslaw
In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage, grated carrot, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Preparing the Fish

Prepare the Cod
Season cod fillets with salt and black pepper. Set aside.

Make the Batter
In a bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, beer, and salt until smooth.

Heat the Oil
In a deep pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C) for frying.

Fry the Fish
Dip each cod fillet into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place in the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Optional Fries

Prepare the Fries
If desired, fry the cut potatoes in hot oil until crispy and golden brown. Drain on paper towels and season with salt.
