Preparing the Calamari

Step 1: Prepare the Calamari
In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well. Dredge the calamari rings in the flour mixture, ensuring they are fully coated.

Step 2: Heat the Oil
In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).

Step 3: Fry the Calamari
Carefully add the coated calamari to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Step 4: Toss with Shallots and Parsley
In a large bowl, toss the fried calamari with the chopped shallots and parsley until well combined.
Making the White Boy Ranch Sauce

Step 1: Combine Ingredients
In a bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, buttermilk, garlic powder, dill pickle relish, and lemon juice. Stir until well combined.

Add salt and black pepper to taste. Adjust seasoning as necessary.
