Preparation
- 1
Cook the Macaroni
In a large pot, boil salted water and cook the macaroni pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and let cool.

Make the Cheese Mixture
In a mixing bowl, combine the cooled macaroni, shredded cheddar cheese, cream cheese, salt, black pepper, and hot sauce (if using). Mix well until the pasta is evenly coated.
- 3
Form the Poppers
Using your hands, form the cheese and macaroni mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bread the Poppers
Dip each mac popper first into the beaten eggs, then roll them in the breadcrumbs until fully coated. Place them back on the baking sheet.

Fry the Poppers
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the mac poppers in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Serve the fried mac poppers warm with zippy ranch dressing on the side for dipping.
